Evolution of exchange control

In 2010 there were two types of changes, one for imports to 2.60 Bs.F and one for travelers, which was 4.30 Bs.F. per dollar. Later that same year it was established that there would be a single exchange rate of 4.30 per dollar Bs.F including imports of basic goods.

In February 2013 an adjustment where it dropped from 4.30 to 6.30 per dollar Bs.F Bs.F dollar was performed.

Thus in March 2013 the Alternative Currency Exchange System (SICAD), a system of acquisition of foreign currency through auctions that offer natural and legal persons and assigned amount to the highest bidder is created. It was aimed at non-priority imports and tourist activities.
